At Nuthaburra Stone we know it is hard to price a job and make money out of it if you are unsure of the quantity and quality of the product you receive from your supplier.

We offer the following to our valuable customers:

 

Ready split and hand selected stone with no rubbish mixed in the load. If you have stone left over you won’t want to throw it away it’ll be too good for that.

 

High quality easy to lay stone. 90 degree cleavage between face and bed. Even with irregularly shaped stones the bed surface will be at right angles to the face of the rock which means 5 things:

 

1.The rock above sits square on the rocks below while the face lines up with the stringline above. Accuracy is improved.

2. The stones can be laid much faster enabling you to lay more square metres of wall in a day.

3. The joints are much smaller which means the stone becomes the feature rather than the mortar. This completely transforms the appearance of your workmanship and your reputation.

4. Cross bonding of perpendicular joints by horizontal stones is easy to achieve.

5. The resulting structure is much stronger than anything you have built before.

The superior structure of coursed rubble.

Good stonemasonry requires that the structure holds itself together by virtue of the correct assembly of the stone units rather than relying on sand and cement. Rubble walls are better laid as traditional Coursed Rubble which enables a strong perpendicular cross bonding to be employed across the face of the wall and through its cross section as well. All the best old stone structures have employed this method and are still standing today. The result is not just a strong structure but a visually appealing one as well.
